Harlan Selesnick,
M.D.
Dr. Selesnick
is a graduate of the six-year Honors Program in Medical Education at Northwestern University in Chicago. He completed his orthopedic residency training at Michael Reese Hospital Medical Center in Chicago.
He also served as assistant to the Chicago Bulls team physician, Dr. H. Bates Noble,
and as the team physician for the National Basketball Association pre-draft rookie camp in 1983 and 1984. Dr. Selesnick received additional sports medicine training at Temple University Center for Sports Medicine Science, in Philadelphia, under the direction of Dr. Ray Moyer, the team physician for the Philadelphia 76'ers.
He is on staff at three Baptist Health hospitals - Doctors Hospital in Coral Gables,
near the University of Miami, South Miami Hospital, located in South Miami, and
Baptist Hospital in Kendall. Dr. Selesnick moved to Miami, Florida, where he currently practices as an orthopedic surgeon
with a subspecialty in sports medicine. He was the team physician for the Miami Marlins
baseball team from 1985 through 1988. He also served as the Miami Miracle
baseball team physician in 1988 and 1989. Dr. Selesnick was elected to be the team physician for the National Basketball Association All-Star game in 1990, 2000 and 2001.
He was also the medical director for the Senior Professional Baseball League
in 1989 through 1991 and also served as the Miami
Tropics team physician for the United States
Basketball League in 1991.
Dr. Selesnick was an assistant professor in the Department of Orthopedics and Sports Medicine at the University of Miami from 1985
to 1997.
He is currently the team physician for the Miami Heat, Miami Jai Alai,
and Dania Jai Alai. He is also the team physician for Miami Dade College. Dr. Selesnick
serves as a team physician for the Sony Ericsson
International Players Tennis Championships. He
also writes a column, "The Jock Doc," for the
Miami Herald.
Dr. Selesnick is certified by the National Board of Medical Examiners and is licensed by the State of Florida. He is certified and recertified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery.

Dr. Selesnick is a past president of the NBA Team Physician Society. He served as the team physician for the USA Dream Team for the World Basketball Championship in Greece in 1998 and was the
team physician for the Gold Medalist USA Basketball Team at
the Olympics in Australia in 2000.
Dr. Selesnick has published more than 35 papers in the orthopedic literature related to arthroscopy, sports medicine, and orthopedic surgery. His publications have appeared in The Journal of Bone and Joint Surgery, Physician in Sports Medicine, Yearbook of Sports Medicine, Clinics in Sports Medicine, the Miami Heat
magazine, American Journal of Sports Medicine, and Arthroscopy Journal.
Dr. Selesnick has lectured nationally and
internationally on more than 100 occasions
on topics related to sports medicine,
arthroscopy and orthopedic surgery.
